    Few more questions:
Can I make the frosting and Ganache in advance like a day before and store it in the fridge? and how long do they need to be on the counter before I could use them on the cake!

Looks amazing 🙂 I am yet to try this recipe. I have tried baking different chocolate cake recipes but this one stands out for me. I will try this over the weekend and will post the outcome. Couple of questions I have: with the fresh cream in the buttercream frosting, could I substitute this whipping cream or double cream? And can I just make half of this recipe with 9 inch pans? I do not have 5 or 8 inch pans. Grateful for your advice.

      Hey Priyanka.
The fresh cream in the buttercream can be whipping or double cream – I use 38% fat
This one uses 3×8 pans but you can use 2 x 9-inch pans – the cake will be shorter but wider. Still pretty and delicious.
Yes, you can make the frosting up to 2 days ahead and keep it in the fridge. Ganache can be kept on the counter for up to 2 days, no problem.
If the ganache sets hard – just place in the microwave for 10 seconds to thaw.
Let me know how it was

Looks amazing. Want to make it for my husbands birthday. I do think it’s a bit too big for us. Can I make just 1/3rd of the recipe and make one cake and cut into 2 layers and then do the same frosting and ganache? Would that work?

You can make half this recipe Ramya, and use 5-inch baking pans instead. So it will look similar and still be smaller. It’s very delicious as well.

Hi thanks for the reply. I unfortunately don’t have so many tins as well. Wanted to try making the cake today and surprise my husband. Will try to run to the store and get some. But if not, could I just do one cake?

Yes, of course, you can do one cake. It will take longer to bake. Then you can split the cake into layers. Thanks

Thanks. I made this cake and it turned out super delicious. Made just 2 layers and didn’t manage to get the ganache very well(guess I overheated the cream) but I covered it up with the frosting ?.
The cake had cracked on the top, anything I can do to avoid this in future?
I am so motivated by this experience that I am going to try more baking and learn from you Veena!

Thanks, Ramya. So happy to hear you enjoyed this cake. You can try baking at a slightly lower temperature next time.
I’m happy to hear you are motivated to bake more. There is lots here that you can learn. I think you will have fun.

Having the perfect, easy chocolate cake recipe is a must! I love that it has oil and cocoa powder. It is so fast to put together! What I have yet to try is the mix of buttercream and ganache. Love it!
