Hi! I made this recipe for my 30th Birthday. I see that your assembly directions list to “Brush each layer with the cooled, simple syrup,” but I don’t see this outlined anywhere else in the recipe. Are there additional directions for this step?

    1. Kylie – simple syrup is basically sugar syrup, which helps keep the cake moist. It’s optional, but as a cake decorator, I practiced it with every cake order.
I use 1/2 cup sugar and 2 cups of water, boil for about 2 to 3 minutes, then let it cool and use as needed.

Really love your cake recipes. Thank you for sharing it.
Can I use amul whipping cream or any other substitute instead of vegetable shortening in the vanilla Butter Cream. ?

Amul whipping cream can be used as a substitute for whipping cream in the recipe, not for the vegetable shortening.
You can use butter, firm ghee, or firm coconut oil instead of vegetable shortening for the buttercream
