Week 2 Day #1…I have saved the recipes for a later date, due to social distancing I do not have any one to share the cake with, I know I can freeze the cake, but I rather wait until I can share the cake with friends…thank-you again for your wonderful work, Mame

    1. Thank you, Mame. Yes, I understand. Whenever you do bake them – do share them on the Facebook group. I’d love to see them

      Week 2-DAY 1 DONE.
I made the one-bowl vanilla cake. Toothpick inserted in center cane out clean. As the cake cooked, it sank a bit in the middle. When I halved it to show the crumb, the very top (where it sank) was under done. I do not have Week 1-Day 3 and 4 emails and believe they covered eggs and flour. I didn’t read the instructions through (i know better now!).

      1. Maria. Often people think the toothpick is dry but you must touch the toothpick with your finger and see if there is moisture on it. Any moisture means it needs a few more minutes. I just checked and the system shows days 3 and 4 both have gone to your email address. Please check the spam and promotions folder. Add the email address to your address book. Or drag the email to your inbox.. these will make sure that next time my email goes to your inbox.

I couldn’t get the batter to come together and every time I tried mixing the wet ingredients together, it separated, even when I did everything right

    1. Hey Elle – as I explained in the post..
The key success of baking a one-bowl recipe is the temperature of your ingredients.
      – All ingredients must be at room temperature.
      – If your butter is cold – it will not cream well and leave you with small butter pebbles which will bake unevenly in the cake.
      – If the eggs are cold it will curdle the warm butter.
      – Only if everything is room temperature, it mixes into a smooth batter which is exactly what we want.

I absolutely love how this is a one bowl recipe! Made clean up so easy! The ingredient list is nice and short! The cake turned out amazing!

    1. Thanks, Suzy. Absolutely! One bowl is less mess for sure. So happy you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming back to write this feedback.

Vanilla cake is a family favourite so I will certainly be giving this a try!

    1. Under “lets talk ingredients” you said : If you want, you can use about 225 grams of vegetable shortening instead of 200 grams of butter… But in the ingredients it says to use 170grams of butter. What is the right amount of butter to use? 170grams or 200grams?
