  1. Hi, my buns didn’t turn golden … it did raise, was soft. Please can you tell me why

    1. Did you use eggwash? Was the oven temperature too low or the baking pan was kept too low in the oven?

      1. Yes, I applied egg wash. I used the microwave oven, pre-heated at 180 c, it has only the turn table

        1. Ah, microwave oven. Not so familiar if that makes a difference.
It should have not had any issue with browning from the ingredients and you say it was light and soft. So not sure why it did not brown. Sorry

Day 3 read but not baked yet. Will hopefully do them soon as they look great. I may need to get a thermometer as not sure how to check the milk is the right temperature. Also, is it okay to use spread or Stork or does it have to be butter?

          1. Yes, Kelly, You can use vegetable shortening like stork. In some bread you can even use oil. Butter gives a superior flavor. The milk needs to be warm to the touch. Not hot but closer to room temperature.

Thank you Veena. I made them tonight. The dough was very sticky for me but they turnt out great. I need to practise rolling them as I ended up with 7 misshapen rolls ? They tasted great though.

              1. Ha… Yes, the dough needs to be soft and slightly sticky Kelly, but that is what gives us soft, light and fluffy dinner rolls. Don’t worry a little practice will get those into shape next time. Cheers
