Planning on making them this weekend for a slider party! I do have a question, maybe I missed it in the directions. The video shows the butter added last, while the recipe has the butter added to the wet ingredients which is then mixed with the flour. Would it matter when the butter is added?

    1. Hey Lena, Yes, I usually add butter last, but it’s also ok to add butter with the wet ingredients – adding last prevents you from the temptation of adding excess flour.
The consistency of the dough is very important to make sure you have soft, fluffy sliders.

Hi there, thanks for recipe. I’m making it today! I’d like to know about what size pan did you cook the sliders in? A 8×8? 9×13? Thanks

Mine turned out like dinner rolls? What did I do wrong!!! 🙁

    1. Hi Alyssa
No worries at all—this happens more often than you think! If your sliders turned out like dinner rolls, it’s usually one of these things:

      1. The buns were shaped too tall instead of wider and flatter

      2. They were proofed a little too long, so they puffed up more than sliders

      3. Or they were baked spaced apart instead of close together, which encourages roll-style rising

For sliders, I recommend shaping slightly flatter discs and placing them fairly close together on the pan so they rise more sideways than upward.

They’re still perfectly delicious—just more “mini rolls” than sliders 😉
If you try them again, let me know and I’m happy to help you tweak it!

One of the easiest doughs I have made in awhile. Used my KitchenAid mixer. Made things a lot easier.

    1. Thanks, Rachal, for the lovely feedback. It is definitely one of the easiest recipes.

These buns turned out perfect! The recipe was easy to follow and they came out super soft. Using them for Reuben sliders but they’re also delicious to just eat on their own.

I don’t always have time to weigh ingredients. I used measurements provided. it said 1/2 tsp of salt. everything was great about these but the flavor was way off. like it needed more salt. so I went back to the recipe and it said 7 g so I looked up how much salt weighs and it is way more than 1/2 tsp!! that explains the bland flavor! otherwise texture was great!! easy to follow instructions

These buns made me feel like a total pro in the kitchen! I made them for a football game party, and my friends thought I had bought them from a bakery. They were soft, flavorful, and had just the right chew. I think I’m going to start making all my bread at home now!

maybe I missed a step or something but my dough after kneading didn’t not turn out the way other breads I have made. it is like it lacked moisture. it was very dry and cracky.

tips on where I went wrong please 😔

      1. Amber – every flour is different, some absorb more water – that is why you must use your instinct – if necessary, add a tablespoon or two of water. Knead properly. Aim for soft, smooth and elastic!

I have a little tradition where I make sliders for my husband and me on Friday nights, and these buns just took our little ritual to the next level! They were soft but held up so well to the meat and toppings. I honestly never knew homemade buns could make such a difference, but I’m hooked now!

Baking bread always intimidated me, but I really wanted to try making my own buns for sliders. These were incredible! The dough was easy to work with, and the end result was soft, golden, and just perfect. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to store-bought buns again!

I made these slider buns for a family cookout, and I was so nervous because I had never made bread from scratch before. But your instructions made it easy, and they turned out so much better than I expected! My dad, who is a total burger snob, even said they were the best buns he’s ever had. Proud moment!
