    hi Ms. Veena,
    I’ve tried the on bowl vanilla cake the only problem I’ve encountered is the frosting because I don’t have available shortening I used a margarine but the frosting didn’t get fluffy may because of the weather here right now it’s really hot and the butter and margarine it’s like melting while I’m beating it with my hand mixer but the cake turns out fine..?thank you for your help

    1. Yes, Jacquline. The hot and humid weather can cause them to melt easily. Also, margarine has more liquid than butter which does not help whip up. Happy the cake was good.

  6. Hi Veena. I’m loving your course, have learned so mu already. For this recipe, can I substitute the shortening in the frosting with anything else? I’m in the UK and not sure if we have veg shortening here.

    1. Thank you, Jen. I believe in the UK you get short bright or Trix which is similar to Crisco in the US. In any case, you can use all butter as well for this shortening.
