This mango coconut smoothie is thick, creamy, and refreshing with ripe mango, coconut milk, honey, and ice. It takes just 5 minutes to make and has plenty of tropical mango flavor without yogurt.

Because I grew up in India, mango drinks always remind me of mango season. We made lassi often at home, especially during the hot summer months, using the homemade yogurt my mom made every day.
This mango coconut smoothie is different from my traditional mango lassi, which is made with yogurt. Here, coconut milk replaces the yogurt and gives the mango a rich, creamy texture with a lovely coconut flavor. It’s not a traditional lassi, but if you love mango lassi and coconut, you will love this combination.
Why you’ll love this smoothie
- Just four ingredients – Mango, coconut milk, honey, and ice. That’s it.
- Thick and creamy – Coconut milk gives the smoothie plenty of richness without yogurt.
- Quick – Everything goes into the blender and it’s ready in about five minutes.
- Easy to adjust – Add more ice for a thicker smoothie or a little more coconut milk for a thinner consistency.

Ingredients and substitutes
- Mango – Use ripe, sweet mangoes for the best flavor. Fresh mango is wonderful when in season, but frozen mango works too and makes an even colder, thicker smoothie.
- Coconut milk – This gives the smoothie its creamy texture and distinct coconut flavor. I prefer regular coconut milk rather than a very thin coconut beverage. Shake it well before measuring.
- Honey – You only need enough to enhance the mango. Taste your mango first; very ripe mangoes may need very little honey. Maple syrup can be used if you want to make the smoothie vegan.
- Ice – Chills and thickens the smoothie. If you’re using frozen mango, reduce the amount of ice so the smoothie doesn’t become too thick.

Step-by-step: Mango Coconut Smoothie
1. Prep the mango
Peel the mango and cut the flesh away from the pit. Chop it into chunks so it blends easily.

2. Blend
Add the chopped mango, coconut milk, honey, and ice to a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth and creamy.

3. Adjust the consistency
Check the texture before serving. Add a little more coconut milk if the smoothie is too thick, or a few more ice cubes if you’d like it thicker and colder.

4. Serve
Pour into glasses and serve immediately while cold and creamy.

Ingredients
- 1 large (1 – 1½ cup) Chopped ripe mango Fresh or frozen
- 1 cup (240 ml) Coconut milk (or any non-dairy milk of choice)
- 1 tbsp Honey, maple syrup or agave syrup to taste
- Ice cubes optional
Method
- Blend – Add the chopped mango, coconut milk, honey, and ice to a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth and creamy.1 large Chopped ripe mango, 1 cup Coconut milk , 1 tbsp Honey, maple syrup or agave syrup , Ice cubes
- Taste and adjust – Check the consistency. Add more ice for a thicker, colder smoothie, or a little more coconut milk if it is too thick.
- Serve – Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use ripe mangoes. The flavor of this smoothie depends heavily on the mango, so use fruit that is ripe, fragrant, and naturally sweet.
- Adjust the honey to the mango. Start with less if your mango is very sweet and add more only after tasting.
- For frozen mango, start with less ice. Frozen fruit already makes the smoothie thick and cold.
- Adjust the consistency after blending. More ice makes it thicker; a splash of coconut milk makes it thinner.
- Serve immediately. The texture is best straight from the blender before the ice begins to melt.
- For a vegan mango smoothie, replace the honey with maple syrup.

Frequently asked questions
It is similar to a mango lassi, but traditional Indian mango lassi is made with yogurt. This version uses coconut milk instead, so I think of it more as a mango coconut smoothie. It has the creamy mango flavor of a lassi without the yogurt.
Yes. Coconut milk gives mango a rich, creamy texture without yogurt. Blend ripe mango with coconut milk, honey, and ice until smooth. It won’t taste exactly like traditional yogurt-based mango lassi, but it makes a delicious creamy mango drink.
Yes. You don’t need yogurt to make a creamy mango smoothie. In this recipe, coconut milk provides the richness and creamy texture instead.
Absolutely. Frozen mango makes the smoothie especially thick and cold. Use less ice at first and add more only if needed.

Absolutely, love mango and coconut together.
Wow, these look soooo delicious and refreshing! When the sun finally comes out in Edinburgh, I’ll be whipping up these for sure 🙂
Thanks, Chris. I do hope you get some sun. We’re getting baked here cause it’s so hot!
This is so easy and such a fun way to refresh yourself during a hot summer day!
Thanks, Raia. Absolutely, very refreshing.

I’m so glad you made this with coconut milk! I’m intolerant of the yogurt so this perfect! Cool, refreshing and easy! Thanks
Thanks, Beth. We do love it with coconut milk. So rich and creamy
I love mango, and have never tried a lassi. I do love smoothies…so I need to give this a try. Sounds like a great lunch for the hot summer days. My grandkids love mango….so when they are here 2 days a week this summer…I will make this for them too.
Oh you must try lassi at least once, Gloria. It’s a smoothie you will never forget.
I really needed this today!! It was so hot and humid and I was weeding our flower beds. I felt I was wilting and I needed something refreshing. The lassi would have been ideal. I’m getting the ingredients as soon as we go to the store. I can see why your kids enjoy them.
Oh, that is hard work, Marisa. This would have been a treat after all that weeding. Well, it is really hot here so there is no weeding.. all the weed just burns into the ground during summer.
Yummy! I think i would put a little less coconut milk next time. I made a half batch and it’s wonderful! Thanks for this refreshing recipe! Drinking it now!
Thank you Tammy, Yes, you can definitely add less coconut milk if you prefer. Also, it depends on the brand of coconut milk we buy. Mine is not overly thick so it was just right. Also I love coconut. Thanks for coming back to write this feedback. So happy to hear you enjoyed it.
