I’m going to try this recipe tomorrow! Do I need to cover the bread while baking in the oven?

    1. NO Catherine. The bowl of water will create steam for the bread and give you a crust

  2. Do you think I would be able to use 4 4-in ramekins instead of the 2 8-in cake pans to create smaller loaves?

I made this using strong bread flour and it was delicious!! I used regular baking trays and forgot to put a tray of water in the oven and it was still great. The only thing is my dough looked dryer than in the pics- next time I make is it ok to add a bit more water before I leave in the fridge overnight?
This is defo my new go to recipe!!

    1. Thank you, Jemi. I am so happy to hear you enjoyed it. Yes, the water would be very helpful for the nice crust and texture too

Hi Veena, this recipe looks amazing! Would it be possible to use sourdough starter instead of dried yeast? i saw you put down 21g active yeast. So 21g of sourdough starter and fingers crossed?

If you do have a Dutch oven what do you need to do differently?
Do you preheat the Dutch oven and then put bread in it while hot? Baked with or without lid? Time? Does it still need the bath water?

  6. Day 9 Done . looking forward to try it soon. Thank you

  7. Hi ! My oven is small and doesnt have space to put the tray or bowl of water under the baking pan. Can i skip the tray /bowl of water ? Thanks.

    1. Can you put the small bowl beside the bread? If you skip it there will be no crust.

    2. Thanks for the quick reply Veena ! Ill try it the soonest and let you know then.

  8. The recipe worked perfectly! I didn’t have little pans, so I just used oven safe, non-stick cookware and the two loaves are delicious and perfect! It was really easy. The most difficult part was waiting 20 minutes once it got out of the oven haha. We will be making this again!
