Cinnamon and chocolate have always been a perfect combination. This cinnamon chocolate milkshake becomes better with some rich homemade ice cream and homemade chocolate syrup to top it off.

One of the best things about summer is that you can enjoy all the frozen and cold drinks. My kids only want to drink something cold because the weather here is so hot they don't want food.
I make this sometimes to treat my kids so they feel they are not missing out on fancy looking milkshakes and smoothies you get at the coffee shops. The truth is this is so easy to make. Today, I use vanilla ice cream but chocolate or coffee ice cream works wonderfully too.
Ingredients and substitutes
- Chocolate - The chocolate we use here is for fun. To smear the milkshake glass and drizzle on top. You can certainly omit this step.
- Cinnamon - Not too much but give the chocolate a lovely warm touch
- Chocolate syrup - You can use store-bought but it really takes just 5 minutes to make some chocolate syrup at home and it takes so much better.
- Ice cream - You can use vanilla or chocolate. In fact, try some Belgian dark chocolate ice cream
- Whipped cream - You can use fresh whipped cream or the cool whip that you just shake and scoop over a drink.

Step by step instructions
- Smear melted chocolate into the milkshake glass and dip the top rim in cocoa powder (optional) - Set aside
- Add all milkshake ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth
- Pour into the prepared milkshake glass.
- Top with more whipped cream
- Drizzle the remaining melted chocolate.
- Garnish with some chocolate shavings (optional)
- Enjoy
More variations to this milkshake
- Mocha - Add ¼ cup cooled, brewed coffee to the blender along with the other ingredients. Make it espresso for a stronger flavor.
- Peanut butter - Add 4 tablespoon peanut butter and ½ cup milk to the blender
- Caramel - add ¼ cup caramel sauce to the blender. Smear the milkshake glass with caramel
- Nutella - Add 2 tablespoon Nutella to the blender along with other ingredients.
