  1. Hi Veena! I am so happy I found your site! You have such great recipes and tips here! I am moving to a new country where it looks like vegan butter will not be available, so I have been experimenting with making buttercream frosting with vegetable Crisco, but it is turning out too grainy and flat, and not soft and fluffy at all (despite adding more liquid). Do you think that using whipped aquafaba might help? Or do you have any other suggestions? Thank you for your time.:) Bess

    1. Hey Bess, sorry for the late reply. With vegetable shortening, if you add too much liquid it can go greasy too which does not necessarily taste nice. I recommend checking the sugar. Some brands of sugars can cause the frosting to be very grainy. I find whipping longer helps make it more fluffy. And, yes, aquafaba is definitely worth a try.
