  1. Hi Veena, I’m hoping the yogurt one person mentioned was in regards to making buttermilk because I’m not seeing in the recipe at all. Also, the ingredients lists Cream of Tartar but I don’t see it added in the instructions. And while on that topic, I’m one of those people who can taste cream of tartar and I really really don’t like it. If it is in the recipe, can it be omitted or substituted? Thank you in advance for your response and thank you for publishing your recipe. I’m making my grandson’s bday cake and he loves Red Velvet. I’m sure it’ll be a big hit.

    1. Hey Suzanne. There is no yogurt just buttermilk in the recipe.
You don’t need cream of tartar anymore. I have simplified the process to whip the whole egg rather than the egg whites separately so I have deleted the COT.
Happy Birthday to your grandson. Let me how he enjoys his cake

  2. Hi, the cake looks lovely. The instructions say to mix yoghurt to the milk but the ingredients list does not show yoghurt or how much. How much yoghurt please?

    1. Hey Liv. Sorry.. yes, there is 2 tbsp of yogurt which needs to be mixed with the milk. Thanks

My friend and I are gonna take a cake decorating class. I think I’ll be able to tackle this soon. I’ve never done anything but spread icing with a knife before!!!

I adore the frosting on this cake! The hint of white in the piping gives it such a beautiful touch, and in its own way, makes it more festive. This is absolutely how I’m doing my red velvet cakes from now on!

    1. Thank you, Mackenzie. Yes, the white does bring out the red beautifully. Ah.. so happy to hear that.

Well, you’ve done it again. A fantastic looking cake that not only looks out of this world good, but is gorgeous to boot! The cake looks like it’s covered in flowers. It would be beautiful for Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, or any kind of shower. I’m going to learn how to do that on a cake.

    1. Thank you, Marisa. Yes, those swirls look like flowers. Yes, it would be perfect for mother’s day or Valentine’s Day for sure.
