I absolutely love this recipe! When it says more flavors to add to this recipe like chocolate or Carmel or coffee when do I add this? I need the recipe to be pipable still! Also can you turn this into a cream cheese frosting recipe lol?

Shalese. You add the chocolate and caramel at the end when the buttercream is ready. You can replace some of the liquid in the recipe with coffee.
The moment you add things the consistency of the buttercream will change. Caramel will become softer than chocolate.
You can replace some of the butter with room temperature cream cheese

Hi Veena, I love your recipes, thanks for taking the time out to share them with us. I’ve tried your bakery style frosting and it was devine, I want to try the velvet buttercream, but I have a question, does it crust?

I’m trying to find a new recipe! Is this pipeable at all? Can I do rosettes and things on cakes and cupcakes? I saw you said its not stiff enough for flowers! Im not making flowers just a tall swirl on cupcakes! Will this recipe work for that? Thank you so much! Im so excited to try this!

    Hello Veena,

I am a big follower of your recipes. I always do your SMBC for all my cakes. Which is big hit? . I have to make two tier buttercream cake for around 25 servings. So my question is which buttercream will work best for stacking cakes SMBC or velvet buttercream?
Because cake is going to travel 15-20mints distance. Is this buttercream is much sweeter on side? Thank you so much ?

Anushri. you can use SMBC in a two-tier cake. The only thing you must check is how long does the cake need to be outside the fridge and how hot is the weather. With Velvet BC you can keep it out longer SMBC is quite perishable.

Is this recipe good for stacked cakes? Making a two tier cake with a large rice krispy ball on top. So, it’s more like a 3 tier cake. Thanks! Also would it be better to use this as the filling or the stiff buttercream recipe you use for flowers to really help keep the cake together? (Hope that makes sense)

Elle. This recipe is perfect for stacking tiered cakes. I’ve used it in my 3 and 4 tier cakes more than once. You can use this for both, filling and frosting.
The stiff buttercream is wonderful but best for things like flowers and hot humid conditions.
