Valentine’s Day dinner doesn’t have to start with a big sit-down first course. I love doing a spread of savory appetizers and side plates—things you can nibble while cooking, share at the table, and mix-and-match depending on the mood. These recipes are easy to pull off at home, but they still feel special enough for date night.
Valentine’s Day Breakfast & Brunch Ideas to Start the Day with Love
Honestly, my favorite Valentine dinners are the ones that feel relaxed. A few small plates on the table, something bubbly in a glass, and food that invites you to linger. That’s why I always lean on appetizers—puff pastry, filo, dips, carpaccio, and a couple of warm sides. It’s romantic without being fussy, and it keeps the evening feeling fun instead of “hosting a formal dinner at home.”
