Oven-baked Butternut Squash Fries
Vegetables when baked, bring out their natural sweetness. This simple and easy recipe for butternut squash fries will have you making this nutritious vegetable more often than you planned. It takes less than 30 minutes and is a kids’ favorite

I believe one of the best ways to eat vegetables is to bake them. It brings out the natural sweetness of the vegetables. I do the same with carrots like carrot sticks. The best part is the kids will like it too.
- Butternut squash – Make sure it’s heavy with firm skin, but without bruises, no brown scars, or punctures.
- Olive oil – You can use cooking oil or other flavored oil, such as garlic oil, avocado oil, chili oil. Olive oil enhances the flavor of the squash.
- Seasoning – There is a lot more you can add to this squash to compliment the main course you are serving. Try paprika, garlic salt, thyme, rosemary, ready-made potato seasonings, etc

Step by step instructions
- Preheat the oven to 220 C/ 430 F.
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper for easy cleanup – set aside
- To clean the butternut squash cut off the two ends at the top and bottom. Use a vegetable peeler and peel the squash.
- Then, use a large chef’s knife to split the squash in two. Remove the seed and cut each half in half, then, cut each half into four or five slices.
- Place the slices in a bowl, add salt, pepper, and olive oil. And any additional seasoning like paprika, thyme, rosemary, etc.
- Layer the slices on the prepared baking tray
- Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve immediately

- 1 tsp Pepper
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
Instructions
