Hi Veena ma’am, hope you are doing well. Ma’am can I store buttercream cake with edible lace decorations in refrigerator overnight, like 14-16 hours?

    1. You can store a buttercream cake in the fridge! For edible decorations it really depends.
Buttercream decorations will stay well. Royal icing and gum paste will ruin once they start to condensation outside the fridge.

        Ok. Thank you ma’am.

  2. hi can i make a masquarde mask with edible lace will it dry over a made mask to form the nose part so its bent over nose part or will it brake

    1. Yes, you must place it on the mask to air dry so it will hold its shape. It will still be soft of course because it is lace unless you live in a humid place and it dries hard.

  3. Quick question… I followed your recipe, it turned out great at first. I was able to get it out of the mat with no issues. I left it out to dry overnight and the next morning it was extremely hard and would no longer flat. I read that it can be stored in a cardboard box with parchment paper in between, i’m just wondering if there is a way to keep it either laying flat or still a little flexible. It turned out to be a hot mess and I want to try again but I need to figure out what I’ve done wrong.

    1. Monicka. yes, you must keep it immediately well wrapped between parchment paper. Any air that gets to it will make it dry! I stored mine for months between parchments in a clean shoe box and it would be soft and flexible.

      1. I just made this recipe and it turned out great!!! So pretty. However I have a question.
I put it in my cake and the next day it was hard, shrunk and would not stick to my frosting.
        Any suggestions?
        Thank you.

        1. Hey Tascah. Lace gets dry very easily and as it dries it tends to shrink. It becomes more difficult it is to bend. It tends to crack easily. This is with all lace – homemade or commercial.

I’m excited about trying out edible sugar lace. I’ve seen it added to tea cups. Does this dissolve and sweeten the tea?

    1. It sure should! It also has tylose so it’s also sticky. It has sugar but I wouldn’t rely on it for sweetness.

  5. If my oven doesn’t go as low as 110 F. Can I bake it at a higher temp for less time?

    1. Use the lowest oven setting. It is best to do low temperature or room temperature otherwise the lace cracks easily

So simple and works perfectly!!! I have used cake lace mixes before and they have not worked nearly as well as this recipe.

Ps it made a good 3 strips of my mat

This recipe is not enough to fill a lace mold. Di you add more powdered sugar

    1. This is a small recipe. You will need to decide how many laces you need to make and then double or triple the recipe accordingly.

How would it be best to apply to a stabilized whipped icing cake?

    1. Amber, it does not need anything – it should just be placed on it. Though you want to be careful as moisture can cause the lace to become soft or even melt.

I made the lace according to your recipe. It looks beautiful, but it’s very dry and papery, not flexible. I tried both air drying and oven drying. Any recommendations? I was thinking of adding a tiny bit more corn syrup.

    1. If it is dry, perhaps you need to take it out a litter earlier. Make sure to store it well so it is not exposed to air. It dries out very easily. Try to keep to the recipe, it works best.

Hi, I tried your recipe and method and it came out perfectly. This is my first time using a lace mat, I was really scared at first. Thanks a lot?

          1. I can’t get last step one. It turns into a chunky almost goop like mess. Are you sure it’s 4T water to 1T gum tex?

            1. No, Jane, the recipe is correct and many have tried it successfully. Please watch my video to see how I make it. Thanks

      2. Hi Veena, after the success with RI recipe on your blog, I’ve tried this. But the mixture was a really tacky mess..like wallpaper glue only thicker. I tried adding more water and it kept drying out. Could the tylose used make a difference?

        Thanks,
        Rasika

        1. Yes, Rasika. This is like glue consistency and quite sticky because of the tylose in there. You need to use it thick and spreadable consistency otherwise the lace will be too thin and won’t come out easily from the mold. It can also break easily
