Mum used to make Apple Strudel quite a lot, and l was always demolishing it. I love the flakiness of the filo pastry, it goes beautifully with the moist apples. A lovely recipe l would love to try.

Premade filo is hardly cheating these days! I love pastry but hardly ever make it myself. Then I’d have to wait too long to eat this delicious looking strudel!

This reminds me of my grandma. She bakes amazing apple strudel with homemade filo (she has time heheh) but the simpler version. Btw this is very popular apple dessert in northwest Croatia. We call it “Štrudla” 😉 I love the addition of nuts and orange juice. Can’t wait to show this recipe to my grandma. It looks gorgeous and so delicious.

    1. Aww Natalie.. you just strudel’ed my day!! Ah.. Strudla.. nice name.. yeah I learned to add nuts and orange juice from my mom..

This looks so delicious Veena. I love apple strudel and dont make them many times cause I don’t wanna make a crust from scratch, but I love the idea of using filo pastry and would try them soon.

    1. Thank you so much Molly. I know exactly what you mean about crust from scratch..! I love store bough filo or puff pastry.

I am big apple pie lover and this is such a great way to make my favorite without much fuss. All I need is a big scoop of ice cream over this strudel. I am so glad for the store bought filo pastry sheets.

I am with you – who makes their own filo at home?! It was a popular task on the Great British Bake Off to have the contestants make their own streusels including the pastry and I always felt it was really unfair to ask them to do it. It’s one pastry I am happy to buy and your filling looks absolutely fabulous 😀

    1. Oh I know what you mean. But if you have people like my mom.. who insisted you learn the basics – even if you can buy it – then you have to learn lol. I learned Filo and Puff pastry from scratch from my mom just because she insisted I had to learn it — so I did.. The old school folks lol
