Thank you for sharing this recipe. Made a small cake last week and it was perfect. The glaze was so shinny and pretty. Just a quick question what can I do with the remaining glaze?

Question..will the mirror glaze work on a rounded cake or does the side of the cakes have to be straight? I am making a cake for my daughters birthday to look like a tea pot and I am using 2 bunt cakes to give it that bowl shape. I would like to cover it in a mirror glaze so it looks like dish ware but I’m afraid it would not cover it on the underside side of the cake. Please help:)

        1. Jessica this will cover where ever it is poured. You can flip the bowl shape over so it glazes properly. then when it’s dry to touch…. flip it back over. Hope that helps.

    1. Evy, this is like a formula that works with the current ingredients. I have not made it with less sugar can’t tell you if it will work.

Hi Veena. Iam making a cake for New years and its also my husbands birthday. There are around 35 people. N I wanted to try a red mirror glaze.the plan is to make a chocolate cake with chocolate custard, white whipped cream with strawberries and choc ganache and cover it also with choc ganache. Do you think it is a good idea? Any tips please?

    1. Netra chocolate cake with chocolate custard sounds good. Whipped cream and strawberries also sounds good. Covering a cake with chocolate ganache also sounds good. Just make sure you plan well in advance and freeze or chill what needs to be chilled in time. The red over chocolate ganache will look pretty. Watch for condensation before you put the glaze. Have fun and let me know how it goes.

Hi Veena. I didn’t make the new year party cake as I was unwell but I made the mirror glaze for my husband’s birthday and it turned out beautiful. I wanted to put up a pic here but don’t know how to. I got so many compliments, all friends were busy taking its photographs before we cut it.
The best part was that it was super easy.
