I have a question, will this recipe be enough to layer & cover a 2 tier 8” round cake?

I made this icing today and not only is it super smooth and creamy, it’s probably the most delicious buttercream I’ve ever had. Thank you for this perfect buttercream recipe.

Hello Veena, I live in Australia, Crusco is very expensive here, from a cake store. Us there an alternative to using shortening, p,ease Thank you for all your awesome recipes

    1. Hey Kat. I think you get a brand called Trex which is also vegetable shortening. If not, using all butter would an option as well.

I am a huge fan of your velvet vanilla ABC! I am currently making a cake for a friend with an egg allergy, so the meringue powder is not possible. I tried this frosting recipe and am so very impressed with the results. A tad sweet for my taste, but as smooth as silk!
Thank you for coming to the rescue once again, Veena ?.

Frosting makes cupcakes look so delicious and so fun. And now that you’ve showed me how easy this is to make, I must give it a try. My kiddo loves pretty desserts. I’ll surprise him this weekend.

Ooooh! I can’t wait to try this out! Hot water and cornstarch! Hmmm! Making me think and I want to experiment with your formula ASAP. We have several birthdays coming up so it will be a good reason to try out the frosting. And you’re right — there is something about bakery frosting that the kids and grandkids LOVE! Thank you for all the tips.

    1. Yup, hot water Marisa. I hope you will try this. It’s fun to watch the kids lick the frosting.
