Thank you for the detailed information. I just made simple syrup as a part of my masterclass cake assignment. I’ve never used it before and was wondering:
    1. how to store it
    2. how long will it last
    3. If I have too much left over, can I flavour measured portions with different flavours

    1. Lucy-sarah. Simple syrup will keep in the fridge for up to one week. Yes, you can flavore it

If I wanted to make a rum simple syrup to brush on my cake layers, do I add the rum to the 1:1 cup sugar/water ratio during the boiling process or after? Also, how much rum do I add? Is 1/4 cup too much? Thanks!

    1. Hey Stephanie – Add 1/4 cup rum to every 1 cup simple syrup. Add is later not while cooking so the alcohol won’t evaporate. Thanks

When you say “two ingredients” I get excited! It’s been my thing lately – finding easy and quick recipes. But this simple syrup is the easiest recipe I have found to date!

    1. I hear you, April. I love fewer ingredients to cook sometimes too. So easy for sure.

Knowing how to make simple syrups is certainly a good thing to know. I’ve made quite a few in the past but I didn’t know that there was a different formula between the cake simple syrup and the drinks simple syrup. And now I know. Thank you for all of the information.
