I’ve always just bought the flour off the shelf and never noticed what it’s actually called. . I’m going to make a conscious effort to look for all purpose flour. I didn’t know it was different.

    1. Mercia. All-purpose flour is the plain flour that you can use for everything. cakes, cookies, bread. What do you call it. Where are you?

      1. Hi Veena. I live in South Africa. We usually just have Cake Flour, Bread Flour. Those are the normal ones we find in the supermarkets.

        1. Mercia -cake flour is specifically for cake and bread flour is specifically for bread. It’s weird that you you don’t have a middle.
Well, all-purpose flour is a combination of soft and hard flour which is essentially you cake and bread flour –
So, if you combine 65 grams of cake flour and 65 grams of bread flour you would get 1 cup (130 grams) of All-purpose flour
          I hope this helps.

          1. Thank you so much. That helps heaps. I really appreciate all your info you share with us.
