A well-made pound cake is a great thing! This recipe looks delicious. My mom used to make pound cake all the time.

I don’t think I’ve ever made a pound cake..not sure Why? This sounds really easy and looks great. It would be the perfect snack or breakfast with a cup of coffee.

    1. It’s really easy Stephanie. You will be making it often – it’s so delicious

What a perfect foil for fresh fruit. The cake looks incredibly moist and dense. I can imagine how a slice would deliciously soak up the juice from the fruit. I bet it’s excellent by itself too.

We love pound cake in our house, but you can’t buy a decent one in the shops here!!!
This recipes sounds great, I reckon the kids could have a go at making it!

    1. I know what you mean Claire. I too don’t like the pound cake from the local bakeries. It think I enjoy pound cake most when it’s still warm and just on it’s own with no frosting. A cup of tea is all I need.

Such a classic recipe! I love the simplicity of it – and it’s completely adaptable to toppings. That’s one of my favourite things about a pound cake. You can drizzle it with sauce or icing, or pile it high with fresh berries of your choosing.

    1. You think like me Byron. I too like to pile it high when entertaining and top it with berries and whipped cream. Absolute classic.

I love pound cake, but I’ve never made it before! Both the chocolate and vanilla versions sound so delicious, I love the photo with both of them together.

    1. Thank you so much Kelly. I like making them together so there is more variety and I think it just makes pound cake look a lot more interesting when served like this.

Is the amount of sugar correct as it seems rather a lot?

    1. Thank you Lesley – Yes the no 1 before the 200 in the recipe ingredient is a type error. I need to remove it. It’s suppose to read 200 grams of sugar. Unfortunately I’m having technical errors on the back end with the blog – so unable to access the post to correct it. I will do that the first chance I have – Thanks

No wonder pound cake is a classic. It’s easy to make, very versatile and delicious.
I love the idea of a light icing and having this with a cup of tea … I’m off to the kitchen to see if I can whip one up!
