I have extra pastry creme from something else so I’m using it to make this today! I’m excited, but I must say the prep time, cook time, and total time listed for this recipe are a far cry from the actual time ?. Even if you only count assembling the final 3 components, they still have to chill in the fridge together for a while. I appreciate the rest of the recipe though ?.

    1. Thanks, Niki. Yes, I see that I was a bit ambitious with my timeline. I did correct it. Also simplified the recipe and added a video. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I hope you enjoy this tart.

      1. Thanks for your reply and the time update! The tarts turned out great, even though I missed adding the egg to the crust (I think it’s missing from the text instruction so I missed adding it, oops!). Really do appreciate the recipe though. 🙂

        1. Thank you, Nikki. I am so happy to hear you enjoyed this tart. I will check and update the egg yolk in the crust. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

    Dear Veena.
Thank you so much for an absolutely delicious dessert.
My daughter and granddaughter all helped and it was so much fun to make especially in these times of the Coronavirus.
A lovely way of keeping busy and having fun while being at home during these trying times.
We made the homemade pastry and followed the directions exactly for all the other steps.
The finished tart was a sight for sore eyes. My granddaughter decorated it with fresh blueberries and strawberries and a dusting of icing sugar.
It tastes amazing and it just looks so professional.
Thank you again for a wonderful Sunday morning with family in the kitchen.

    1. Thank you so much, Julie. I am so happy to hear you had fun making this tart. Yes, baking with the family at this time is fun. My kids made Resees cups yesterday. I would love to see the tart if you do have the pictures share them in our Facebook group. Don’t tag me on any social media @veenaazmanov as well, please.

I made this tart following your instructions carefully. It was delicious. However the pastry cream was very runny, in spite of a lot of chilling. Any suggestions?
    Tony

    1. Hey Tony, The pastry cream needs to be cooked until its thicker. That way it holds better when chilled.

  4. The pastry cream instructions refer to adding butter but I don’t see any quantity listed ingrediant listing?

    1. Hey Robin. Yes, there is 60 grams (1/4 cup butter) sorry about that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

      1. Do you think the custard will be ok without the butter? I had gone ahead and made it with only the ingredients listed and it is chiling now. I don’t want to make another batch if not necessary.

        1. Yes, Robin. The basic vanilla pastry cream is without the butter. You can make this without as well. I do it often. For tarts, we tend to add more richness but it works without just as well.

          1. I was able to reheat the custard , then added the butter, worked out fine. The flan was lovely. I will definitely make again. Maybe carrying the fruit topping….thinking raspberry, mixed berry, etc! Thanks for the inspiration!

            1. Ah.. thank you, Robin. Happy it worked out ok and you enjoyed it very much. Yes, any fruit works a treat with this. You don’t have to use a fruit filling, you can use fresh fruits as well as I have in this Strawberry Tart

Hi Veena, love the look and sound of this tart! Blueberries are my absolute favorite berry and I think I’d have a hard time not eating half of this in one setting! Thanks for sharing 🙂

    1. I know what you mean Traci. I have a hard time not eating these desserts myself.

This blueberry tart looks so beautiful and delicious! I love when blueberry season comes around! I used to have a blueberry bush in my backyard when I lived in Maine and I miss it to this day! I can’t wait to make your scrumptious tart!

    1. So lucky Elaine. I have to often rely on frozen blueberries. The ones I buy fresh are sold as gold so expensive. I hope you try this one it’s really delish.
