Red Ombre Wedding Cake with Sugar Magnolia
Today I wanted to share with you my Red Ombre Wedding Cake with Sugar Magnolia.
With the recent changing trends in weddings it’s not uncommon to have a request for a non white wedding cake? In fact now you get all different sorts of request really.
Here I have used Satin Ice fondant and Magic Colors Extra Red gel food color.
For the cakes I used my Devils Food Chocolate Cake recipe and Chocolate Pound Cake And Covered it with my Homemade non dairy Buttercream.
How to get an Ombre effect –
I started off with the bottom tier – colored the fondant I needed for the bottom and a little extra to a nice red color.
Once I covered the bottom cake I then added more white fondant to the left over red fondant to get a lighter shade for the second tier.
Once I covered the second tier I added more white and covered the top tier.
And that’s all there is to creating an Ombre effect.
Here is a close up of the lovely broche mold I got from the lovely Rose Warwick of Couture Cakes by Rose. She sent it to me as a gift. I loved it so much I had to use it on this cake. Rose has an amazing Etsy shop with lots of lovely such molds- You can find Rose on Facebook here. Don’t forget to tell her I sent you .
Here’s a close up of my Magnolia. I have still to make a tutorial on my magnolia – soon I hope.
And now for the molds I used.
The bottom tier has the swag molds – these are the new collection of swag molds by Marvelous Molds – you can check them out here. Marvelous Molds Swag Collection
You won’t believe it but I do have the whole Swag collection. Thank you Marvelous Molds for making caking a little easier.
The middle Tier has the Chevron Onlay mold – This is what it looks like and you can find it on Marvelous Molds too – Chevron Only
Here is a close up of the middle tier – with the Chevron Onlay
Well, I do hope this post helps in some way.
Happy Baking !!
