I did a small tester cake followed by a galaxy birthday cake for my son’s Star Wars birthday. The glaze turned out great both times with this recipe and the pro tips were especially helpful as I had never tried this before. All of the party guests were wowed!

    1. Thank you so much, Jennifer, for the lovely feedback. I am so happy to hear your cake was impressive

Worked Fantastic! Have been wanting to try a mirror glaze but was intimidated by gelatin sheets. Came across this recipe and decided to give it a try. Made a 2 tiered layered cake for my father in law’s birthday with buttercream icing. Used this glaze recipe and it turned out beautifully! Thank you for posting the cake was a hit!

    1. Thank you for the lovely feedback, Jennifer. So happy that worked great for you.

      1. How big of a cake will this cover?

        Will white chocolate melts work?

Hi Veena, would this recipe work if I use white compound chocolate instead of coverture chocolate.

    1. Yes, Namrata. It should work. Though compound chocolate is not very tasty. I highly recommend using a chocolate bar instead.

  5. It does say when to add vanilla.

    1. Hey, Wendy, yes, you can add the vanilla at the last step with the chocolate or as I suggested in the post, to the saucepan with condensed milk. Thanks, I just updated the post.

  6. can you pipe over top of the glaze once it sets?

    1. I have not tried to pipe on it. The glaze when dried is still tacky – the gelatin effect. Perhaps something light like a chocolate writing or such.

Turned out great! The only thing I changed was I added a bit of lemon emulsion and some white food coloring before adding colors. The white made it more opaque and not so translucent. I would love to post a picture but it won’t let me.

    1. Thank you, Kendall. Lemon sounds delicious. Yes, I would love to see it. You can share with me by uploading an image here on Pinterest – you will see – add photo – click and upload it will go below my image. 8. Hi! Website lists 150 gram of sugar but the print version says 300 gram (it’s the only measurement that’s different). Also, print version says 1 tsp of vanilla. Just trying to clarify what to use.

    1. Sorry, Lyndie – I think yesterday I must have made some error while working on that post. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I have corrected it now.

  9. Wonderful recipy tnk u so much???

Hi Veena, my mirror glaze cake came out very nice. But it seem to loose the shine once it dried. What am I doing wrong.

    1. Hey Gerda. Is it tacky when you touch it? The shine comes from the combination of gelatin and condensed milk. Perhaps the glaze was too liquid?
