Lotus inspired Lace White Wedding Cake

Lace is now become a big trend in wedding cakes as you can see in this Lace white wedding cake; especially because of how delicate and elegant they look. I love making lace using my homemade edible sugar lace recipe. The option for lace mats can really be a big treat when you go shopping these days.

The bride was really fascinated with the idea of having edible lace on her cake. In fact she could not believe that edible sugar lace could look so real. I just had to show her, right?

So; I opened my box of laces and she was shocked at the variety and colors I had in there. Not to mention how absolutely gorgeous they looked. Some were two tone and gold as well. I think the fact that it was so delicate and yet edible is something non cake people can’t seem to get their head around.

So while she was very fascinated with all the colors she decided she still wanted to keep it simple and white. So that’s what we did. The topper was made with just one large lotus inspired flower and lots of small hand pulled blossoms to accommodate her budget.

Cake Consultation

I love cake consultations, because it’s not just meeting these lovely brides who are on cloud nine all excited and nervous about their wedding but also because you can ask them so much more about what inspires their cake design. It’s like getting personal so you can figure out what it is that will make a simple cake more meaningful to them. you can find my post – Tips and how to conduct a Cake Consultation . I think often couples appreciate that very much.

The top tier hSs one large flower – inspired by the lotus. In fact the petals are the lotus but the center is similar to the Magnolia flower. I really loved making this one.

Edible Lace

By now you know I have a homemade recipe for edible sugar lace. Yes, this is the same recipe used here and yes it’s eggless and vegetarian. I have a detailed video on how to make the lace as well. In the video I showed you a bunch of lace mats and laces too. The lace on the third tier is a fondant lace for which I used a silicon mold not a lace mat.   It is always difficult to find the same exact mats I used here but as you can see the first one the same as the one on the bottom tier.

Hi Veena, how do you attach the lace to swiis meringue buttercream? So it is possible then because I was told thay laces only work in fondant.
I am glad I saw your blog.Thank you.

Gca lace sticks to buttercream without anything! Just place it. Buttercream is already moist so I just place it. On fondant or dry buttercream, you just moisten the cake with water. I use a spray bottle or brush but with SMBC it just sticks without anything.
