What better way to welcome fall than a sprinkle of the fresh homemade pumpkin spice mix over your baked goods and drinks? Did you know that this spice mix needs only five basic spices you probably already have in your pantry?

Table of Content
One of my absolute favorite things about fall is pumpkin spice, gingerbread spice, chai spice, and my holiday spice mixes. And I've always had these in my spice cabinet ever since I can remember. I make them myself and from whole spices. Learned the value of whole spices from my mom. She always made her own... every single one of them.
The next time you need a spice mix look in your own cabinet before you look at the supermarket spice rack. Chances are you have everything you need to make your own. The best is that you can make your own variations - use less or more of what you like or don't like.
About this spice mix
Of course, it's really very easy to just get this off the shelf and that's ok but when you make your own? It's a great way to add a little personal touch. Originally, this spice has only five main spices - cinnamon being the most dominant, then the nutmeg, and ginger. Clove and allspice are usually quite strong in flavor so a little goes a long way. I like to add a dash of cardamom and just a hint of pepper. Can't explain why but it just works.
The spice is really not much in quantity. Why? Well, these spices once ground should not be kept around for too long. This recipe makes a little over a ¼ cup but, guess what? that works for one whole fall. And next year, I will make a fresh batch again. If you need inspiration on how to use this I have over 25 pumpkin-inspired recipes that use this mix.

That is so weird that I just made pumpkin spice. I did not know it was so easy. I always buy but had none at home and wow. I'm never buying it again.

I am from India.in the pumpkin spice mix what is this all spice powder
Veena Azmanov
Betsy this is the recipe to make the pumpkin spice mix. You mix all the powders and the mixture is called pumpkin spice. Just like we make garam masala. It's a blend of all the different powders. See the recipe below.
