Sugar Carnival Collaboration Cake
A group of cake decorators, from around the world, collaborated together in the past months to bring you these 29 sugar creations, from the elegance of the Venice Carnival to the vibrant carnival of South America.
Carnival is a 5 day festival, which occurs immediately before Lent, and is celebrated in different countries, with carnival food, floats, lots of colors, masks, costumes… It can be elegant. It can be satirical. It can be colorful. It’s a 5 days of fun.
My inspiration given to me was this venetian queen.
The venetian mask was my inspiration and I loved each and every piece of that inspiration. I honestly could not take anything out because the whole thing just fit so perfectly. So my piece matches the inspiration very closely.
Sculpting is not my forte but I do love the challenge and truly enjoyed working on this piece from start to finish.
I tried a couple of things for the first time on this cake. Such as my first attempted at cake structure thanks to cake frame. My first attempt at Isomalt and Wafer paper too.
For those of you interested here are a few progress shots. I have not taken too many as much of it was fairly new to me too. But I do hope it gives you a few ideas too.
This is my Cake Frame – remember I shared all about it with you not long ago. Read more about Cake Frame
Here are some more pictures for you to enjoy.
I really enjoyed working on this wonderful collaboration and I do hope you like my contribution.
Happy Carnival!
