Shabby Sheek Valentine Inspired Cake
I made this cake for a beautiful couple who got married on the 12th February. The were engaged a year ago on Valentine’s Day.
She wanted a Shabby Sheek style wedding cake. And yet wanted to incorporate the element of Valentines Day just to remember her engagement.
Guys I have had Shabby Sheek on my wishlist for so long, you can imagine how excited I was when she wanted to order shabby sheek. If your a cake decorator you probably know what I’m talking, right?
So, quite a few of you on Facebook asked me – What is Shabby Sheek?
Well Shabby Sheek is a form of interior design where the furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or where a new item are deliberately distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique.
So everything about this cake is Shabby Sheek.
The bottom tier is a wood panel that has been given an aged look; I used a texture mat that is similar to this – Wood Texture Mat
I then used my Sugar Shapers to enhance some of these textures.
The top two tiers are marbled fondant.
The topper is what brings the element of Valentine’s Day into it of course.
I know what you thinking?? – Which camera does she use to click her cake pictures. Right?
I know! I’ve been getting many of you message me asking that. I’m so flattered.
So here is the camera I use, and yes very soon I will add details on what settings I use to click my pictures. I promise soon.
Panasonic X Series H-HS12035 Lumix G 12-35mm F2.8 ASPH Lens with Front and Rear Lens Cap, Hood and Sto
