Our choice of Online Cake Decorating Schools is becoming increasing competitive and a difficult choice. Often we loose sight of what we want and how much we want to invest. Here are a few schools that I have joined over the years and what I think about them. I hope it helps you when making your decision.
I created this page of the online schools that I have tried and highly recommend because I often get new cake artist who can't decide between the various options available. Indeed we are lucky to have so many options to learn unlike our mentors who had to wait for the classes to come to them.
Below are details of individual schools. If you want to check out my favorite classes provided by them all at once.
Check out my Pinterest Board of Cake Decorating Tutorial I highly recommend. All cake Schools tutorials under one board..
While there are many great options out there, here are the ones that I have tried. If I do try some others I will let you know.
1. Paul Bradford Sugar Craft School
This school is close to my heart because it's where I started as a cake artist. It's where I got my foundation from. In fact I think it's the best gift I ever gave to myself in terms of education.
I have written a blog post and raved about this school since being a member of Paul Bradford School for over five years now. I think it is best suited for her home baker who wants to own a cake decorating business. It has lots of options from simple to advanced. It's been focused on making cake tutorials that you as a cake business would get orders for - be it a Castle or a Wedding cake. Often you can take a tutorial and work with Paul form start to finish because he doesn't skip nothing.
Most of the previous classes are by Paul himself but now he has invited many guest tutors who have taught their special skill such as Rose from Rose Marie Cake who taught her award winning realistic cake 'Catch of the Day' and the Rocket Cake by Mayen from Way Beyond Cakes by Mayen, as well as cute Sugar Toppers by award winning modeling artist like Valentine of Valentina Sugarland.
You can read more about this school in my review about it on his post here. I am still currently a proud member of Paul Bradford Sugar Craft School.
2. Pretty Witty Cakes
I have had the opportunity to try this school for a few days and honestly loved it. It has a wide range of cake tutorials and some absolutely amazing cake artist.
One of the great advantages of learning online is that you can learn from the very best and Pretty Witty Cakes does have some of the very best such as Dawn Butler from Dinkydoodle cakes by Dawn Butler, Kaysie Lackey from The Peoples cakes in Seattle, Leesa Collins from Alice Cakes , Michelle Rae of Inspired by Michelle Cake Designs and many more..
Apart from that they do have it all!! Cake tutorials, Sugar flowers, as well as big cakes which require all those special tools such as nuts and bolts some of us are afraid to venture into. Some amazing wafer paper and modeling videos too!
They also have an online shop linked to each and every class so you can actually see any tiny item used during the class and just order it.
I am not a current member of this school but I have had the opportunity to try it and so would highly recommend it. You can check more about them here Pretty Witty Cakes
3. Yeners Way Cake Art Tutorials - Online Cake Decorating Schools
Yeners Way is a new online Cake Decorating School that has opened up recently. They have many many free cake tutorials in their school and some amazing paid tutorials too.
All the tutorials are taught by Sedar Yerner. A very very talented artist as you can see in the pictures above. He shows you how to make these amazing sugar toppers such as Castles, Horses and carriage, skulls and much more. He does use simple easy technique that make these complicated designs simple and achievable. It is still a growing school and I'm sure will be a great advantage to anyone wanting to learn unique cake skills. You can see more about his school here - Log in and become a member so you can see all the free tutorials Yeners Way Cake Art Tutorials
4. Craftsy - Online Cake Decorating Schools / Classes
While Craftsy does not have a membership program it does have a wide selection of online classes in almost all fields of learning. Be it Cake Decorating, Cooking, Photography, Painting, Sewing, Quilting or wood carving.
The best thing for me about Craftsy is that I get to learn from the world renowned artist. There is not way in the world that I would be able to travel or afford to take classes from my idols such as Nicholas Lodge, or Alaan Dunn etc.. But having them teach on these online schools has made that possible.
Here are some Cake Decorating Craftsy Classes
Like I said Craftsy has classes in all fields of learning and here are some cooking classes that I love

Hi Veena
I have read with interest you reviews, very well done, even though I am not completely in agreement with everything you say.
I am also member in Paul Bradford‘s, Serdar Yener‘s, Pretty Witty Cakes‘ schools and have bought at Craftsy. I was with Avalon and Sugared and am trying our Cakeheads - with mixed feelings...
Yeners‘Way is for me the top of the top. Serdar Yener IS a teacher. As you rightly say, he takes a cake and from that he teaches all there is to know about the particular techniques used to make the design. I have joined his school when it was its first year online. I have loved it from the very first moment and it has never disappointed me. If I had to cut the budget for online classes, I would keep only this one and leave the others.
Paul has great guest tutors and personally I think this is the best part of his online school. To me he is a great demonstrator, rather than a good teacher. I have lots of respect for what he has achieved and he has a very nice way about him. But no, he is not my favourite. If it was not for his guest tutors, I think I would leave his online school.
Pretty Witty cakes is good. They have great tutors and a wide range of popular and commercial cakes, along with the special ones. I also love the cupcake classes with all the modelling and special design involved. This is one of the product that the others don‘t have or only marginally.
The other schools I have tried, or I am still with are nice to see, but not interesting enough (at least fo me) to stay on.
Craftsy is great, non really unexpensive if you buy a lot, but great and they have often special offer that make them more affordable.
I also like to thank you, Veena, for your tutorials online, that I have often found very helpful.
Take care
Eli

Than you Eli for your lovely comment and happy that you like my blog and tutorials
I do agree with you on all your review too. I must say that I am biased towards Paul's school because that's where I started- Paul has been my mentor. I call his school the bread and butter school of cake decorating - if you have a business those are usually the cakes that you would get as orders and he nails it to the last details. I personally think he is a great teacher and teaches you by demonstration without the attitude of I know it all. I love that he includes his mistakes and shares his worries of - not sure if it will work!!
Yerners way is my recent addiction. I cannot stop watching his tutorial. No matter what the cake - you think you know how to make it but he will show you a few tips to take what you already know to the next level.
To me the best of Paul and Seder is their ability to simplify cakes. They always find away to make it easy.
All the other schools are definitely great. I love Avalons school - I think she is a great artist and has so much to offer.
Craftsy is great but now with almost a 100 tutorials purchased I do feel the pinch in my wallet. But each and every tutorial is unique and worth the money lol
Thanks for your lovely comment
