Hand Painting on Cakes
Sharing with you my two most recent hand painted cakes. Normally I paint on white but in this cake I painted on colored or rather a black cake as well. Now I know many of you are very interested in learning more about hand painting.
You do know that normally I would accommodate your request with a tutorial but in this case I can’t. I’m still not at that level of painting where I can teach you how to.
But as always I can share with you the information from where I learn the skills myself.
The two cakes above are painted with a technique called One Stroke painting. This is not a simple technique and it’s takes a lot of practice. You load the brush with two colors at the same time and then learn the various strokes that lead to beautiful painting.
And for those of you that would like to try the above technique of one stroke painting. This is the book that I purchased on Amazon and this is what helped me with my above two cakes.
You can find this book here – Painting Flowers on Cakes The link lets you peak inside the cake and see a few pages. Check it out.
You don’t have to do one stroke painting if you don’t want. You can do the simple hand painting on cakes. Just like the water color techniques.
For those of you who want to start off this is a good class to start. It’s a FREE class on Craftsy. Yes, FREE class – The Hand Painted Cakes.
All you have to do is register and enroll. Then watch the class. Its’ a mini class but trust me this class is packed with lots of info on hand painting on cakes.
I was trying different backgrounds for these cakes. Can you tell which you prefer?
Well, I do hope you join the class or buy the book. What ever you do you will have to do some practice work on paper before you touch your brush to the cake. It is very nerve wrecking. I was very nervous when doing the Golden yellow cake but was even more nervous when doing the black cake. Either was I was thrilled with the outcome. Not perfect I know but we will get there.
