Hand Painted Princess Cupcakes
I wanted to post my recipe for Swiss Meringue Buttercream (SMBC) today, but was so happy about how these Hand Painted Princess cupcakes came out I couldn’t wait to share with you.
I did take some progress pictures for you but honestly I have shown you this technique so many times that it really wasn’t necessary. Besides I have a video on ‘How to paint on fondant’ which uses the same technique. It’s not the best video I made, I admit; but the concept is the same.
These are my three in one cupcake flavors with Swiss Meringue Buttercream (SMBC) – Recipe will be posted tomorrow.
Here are some progress pictures of my Hand Painted Princess Cupcakes
This is fondant with a little CMC added. I did not use too much CMC as these would be eaten.
I cut out some disc, approximately for my cupcakes using a fluted cutter.
I used a smaller round cutter to make the impression on the inside
Just made an impression – do not cut too deep.
Let them dry for a couple of hours before I continue. They are easier to handle.
Choose and print the size of the picture you need to trace. Trace the outline on a parchment paper.
Trace on both sides of the parchment.
Next place the parchment on the disc and trace with an edible pencil.
These can be found at cake supply stores.
Once traced this is what I have.. Now start to paint.
I started from light to darker colors.
Once painted. Leave to dry completely. You can place these on cupcakes or cookies as well.
When safe to handle I painted the border with edible gold luster dust to give them that portrait look.
We also used the same technique on the larger cake – A hand painted Bakugan cake,
I hope you liked these.
