Hand Painted Bakugan Cake - Cake Decorating Tutorials
A hand painted cake can be a great way to create kids character cakes. Here I am making a hand painted Bakugan cake but you can use any kids favorite characters such as superman or spider-man and use this technique.
I made this cake for a five you old boy name Hillel who is crazy about this character Bakugan. So I made him this Hand Painted Bakugan Cake
Finding the right image
Hand painting on cake can be fun and not as complicated if you use the right image and right method. As you can see here. I choose my design. then printed the picture from the internet. I created the size that fit my cake perfectly and then printed it out to that size but as a mirror image.
Tracing the image
Trace the image on the parchment or baking paper using a food grade pencil or led free pencil.
Then transfer the design on to the cake by simply flipping the design over and lightly retracing the image
What you should have now is the image the right side facing you.
If you have a large image it's often better to spit the image into two so you can work on one piece at at time.
Now I have the full image on my cake.
Adding Color to the Design
Then start painting or filling in your design using food gel colors. You can use alcohol or lemon extract to dilute the colors as they dry out faster.
I have used water to paint with too. As long as you do not drown you fondant in excess water, nothing is going to happen.
Here I choose to hand pain the image of the boy first.
Both the designs are now completed. As you can see I have made the edges in a dark shade so the image stands out.
Next, I could have painted the flames as well but I thought the flames made of fondant might look better.
For the flames I marbles red, orange and yellow. I used a template from the internet for this too.
As you can see the marbling is very bright red in some pieces and bring yellow in some pieces. I did this on purpose.
And that's as simple as I made it.
