I recently made this pink designer handbag cake for my mother in law. She loves pink and she loves her hand bag. So I thought it would be an awesome cake for her. The funny thing about her handbag is that it is always leaning more towards one side and when you ask her about it she is not very happy about it. I made the bag leaning on one side a tad just for fun.
Since I had a few request for a tutorial on a Designer handbag cake I thought I'd share on video a how to on the pink bag.
A hand bag cake is a perfect cake to make for a lady of any age. Depending on the age you can tweak the colors, accessories and style.
I also made this bag recently for a customer. She loves handbags but her's was more a business type of bag requested by her husband.
A note on copyright. If you are making a bag for a customer, it's best to ensure that the bag you choose will not have any copyright issues later. Personally I may copy a bag but I prefer not to write the name on the bag for any customer cakes.
I could put a name tag on my mother-in-law's cake. But, because I made this video and published it on YouTube, I preferred not to. You know, better safe than sorry they say.

For this teal one I did not carve the bag much really. I Kept the sides straight and the sides flat, while the pink has been carved in as you can see in the video.

Of course I used edible luster dust to paint the gold.

You can use a zipper mold to create the zipper!
And here is the video I made showing you how I made the pink handbag cake. I do hope you find it useful.
How to make a Designer Hand Bag Cake
I used mostly sheet pans to bake these cakes.
For the Pink cake I use a 11 x 13Â Chocolate Sheet cake + an 8" square cake Vanilla Cream Cake. I cut the sheet cake width ways to make this cake.Â
For the teal I used one and a half Chocolate Sheet cake. Cut the cake length ways instead of width ways. I hope that makes sense.
And of course the cake board.

Don't miss the last of the video where I share how to make this cake board as well as these gold buckles, locks, chain and charm.

Well, I do hope you find this video tutorial useful.
Happy Baking.
