Color Splash Cake
What does this cake remind you of? Think Indian, think festive… Any ideas?
I was honored when I was recently asked to contribute a cake to India’s 1st Cake Art Magazine.
The Theme was Indian Festivals. As an Indian who lives overseas this is such a special feeling to be looked as an Indian artist, truly grateful.
What’s your favorite Indian festival? I love Holi!!!
So for this project I have used the Festival of Holi as my inspiration. For those of you that do not know what the festival of Holi is about. I can say it in one word and my Indian friends will agree… ‘color’ Yes colors!

I love how color is seen splashing or dripping during this festival.You break all boundary’s and go wild with color and that’s what I wanted to replicate on my cake.
The Color Splash Cake….
The cake topper has a Color Splash Effect – the magazine also has a tutorial on how to make this using Candy Melts (and Candy Colors) I have shared some detail pictures on how I made the Color splash topper on the magazine and at a later stage I will share the tutorial on my blog too. The middle tier has this Color drip effect. I’ve used lots of gel colors and my favorite brushesto create this effect and I love how the drip turned out. I have many of you ask me how I created this without making a big mess and I will share this with you in future too.
The bottom tier is a printed peasly pattern with some edible lace on wafer paper.
The very top tier and the board are simple metallic effect techniques using Gold luster dustwhich I shared in my previous Tip Thursday on Creating Metallic Effects on Cakes and an FMM border
