Yeners Way Cake Art Tutorials
My recent two post – Cake Decorating as a profession or hobby and choosing the right cake decorating courses on line were very popular and also had many asking for my recommendation. So, I’ve decided that I’d share my review on some of the classes and courses I have taken. I hope that it will help you when making a choice.
First I’d like to say that this is not a paid advertisement or review. All the views expressed in this post are mine alone and I’m responsible for my own opinion.
About Yeners Way Cake Art Tutorials
What if I told you, you could learn from one of the best Cake Artist of all time?
A few months ago I came across this video on You Tube. I was so taken by the gentleman’s way of teaching I visited the site to check out more. Boy am I glad I did.
I saw some of the most gorgeous cakes EVER!! The Chocolate sculptures, Royal Icing work and the Cakes were – simply out of this world.
About Serdar Omer Yener
Serdar Omer Yener is the Artist behind Yeners Way Cake Art Tutorials. He has won so many awards all over the world – Best Pastry Artist – Igeho Switzerland, Best Pastry Chef – Food Asia Singapore, Judge for World Pastry Championships. And this are just the tip of the iceberg, there’s lots more awards and accolades.
If you have a moment you must read the About Me page on this website. I found it so fascinating to read all the sugar adventures from his yesteryear’s. He has some amazing pictures of cakes and more. He has traveled all over world with his sugar craft. Most of all; you can see he truly enjoys what he does.
I think what I really was touched most about Serdar Omer Yener is how simple and humble he is. He shares with such an open heart. His years of experience shines through the way he works. He makes such complicated pieces of work so easy to follow. He has a special talent to take something complicated and show you how to attempt it the easiest way.
About the Cakes
I watched the step by step of this Chocolate Castle Cake this Halloween and it was just amazing to watch the whole process come together so beautifully. It’s like watching a magic show!
Here’s another cake that looks so difficult to make but his step by step video just makes it so achievable. Those beautiful birds looks so complicated but if you watch the video you’ll see he has the most easy and simplest way to make them.
About the Tutorials
They say “If you give a man food you feed him for a day – but if you teach him to fish you feed him for life”.
Here’s what these tutorials do. Serdar Omer Yener not just teaches you that specific cake, his aim with each video is to teach you new techniques, new methods.
He starts right from the beginning of how to sketch the cake –
What are the things you should look for?
Why would you use one medium over another,
What would happen if you used choice A over choice B. Where and
What issues may rise. How to troubleshoot.
So to him he’s not teaching you one cake he’s teaching you how to cake decorate thru this one cake. Does that make sense? I hope it does!
About the videos
Each and every video comes with all the templates and list of materials you will need. He has links to the online sources where you can buy the equipment he uses. If there is anything such as LCD lights for the Ginger Bread house or the Toad Stool he will show you where to find it.
The lessons are all detailed so you can get information about the cake sizes, how many servings and how much of the ingredients you need. To some of us this can be a huge advantage. Each class is set on one video with the timing listed so if you are looking for a particular part in the video – you will know exactly where to look for it.
All the videos are very professionally done. Love the set up and love that each and every video has a unique backdrop that often matches with the theme of the cake. For example The Olaf Cake has a gorgeous Snowy background. I think it’s cute.
This is an absolutely amazing tutorial – Chocolate Portraiture Technique and he made it look like a piece of cake.
The best for last
While there are lots of videos on the online school for which you have to subscribe to. There are plenty of FREE videos such as this gravity defying Olaf, a wedding cake, Saxophone cake topper and Blog recipes for free. All you have to do is just create an account.
